Asansor is a historical building in Izmir Karataş quarter, within the boundaries of the metropolitan district of Konak. It was built in 1907 as a work of public service by a wealthy Jewish banker and trader of that period, Nesim Levi Bayraklioglu, in order to ease passage from the narrow coastline of Karataş to the hillside, the elevator within the building serving to carry people and goods through the steep cliff between the two parts of the quarter.

In time, the small street that led to the building also came to be known under the same name, Asansor Street. In the 1940s, one of the residents of the street was the singer Dario Moreno, who was to attain fame later.

It was recently restored and since then, became one of the landmarks of Izmir. The street was renamed Dario Moreno Street in memory of the singer.
Currently, top of Asansör is one of the most famous restaurants in Izmir.

Well worth going to see the lift which I believe was originally built in 1907 and recently renovated. The views are absolutely fantastic from the top as you can see the whole of the port. We wondered why only one lift was working but on looking from another point one of the iron girders has broken so obviously that was…

Panoramic view of Izmir! You cannot imagine that it was built so past! We sit for a coffee and tea, the prices were above the average, but it worths! A lot of people go there, even if it is a little far from the "touristic center" (Konak square)

The view from the top of Asansor is great! However, my fiance and I tried to enjoy a nice dinner there, as well. Way too much cigarette smoke if you want to sit outside and service was lacking. Would return again, but maybe just to watch the sunset over a drink!

Surprisingly experience to come to the Asansor and go to the top quite free of charge and to enjoy the beautiful view over the entire city and golf.

The scene of the place and the street is so nice. The street is the place, where Dario no lived in Izmir with his family.
The place is so close to the city center. You can easily go there by walk or by bus, and take photos.

An interesting place, when you arrive from the street renamed Dario no Street in memory of the singer who lived there and became a star later.
The ride with the lilf is free and on top we find one of the best known restaurants in Izmir. The view from this spot is panoramic.

Beautiful view of Izmir from Asansor. You could have some drink and food while having fun with friends. And prices are reasonable. Strongly recommended.

In late October 2008 the restaurants at the top of the Ascensor were closed for renovation – looked like it might be for a couple of months –
This was an okay site – basically its a tall building with an elevator inside – Not really worth it unless you have a few hours to kill and have nothing else…

Asansor is a lift which was supposedly built way back in the 1900's , to help old people and ladies to navigate the steep terrain.Went there on a Sunday morning. I had the place all to myself. Asansor offers a beautiful view of Izmir city. You can use the telescope at the top to have a closer view of the…

The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
