The Turkish region of Cappadocia, a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage, boasts one of the most dramatic sights in the world.

Visiting Cappadocia is such a change from visiting many other busy bustling sights all over Turkey. It is a great pleasure to wander in the vast open space filled with captivating natural attractions which have seen human history dated back in the Bronze Age.

While in Goreme Open Air Museum , the conical formations resulting from the volcanic eruptions that took place millions of years ago, just follow the path up to the top of one of the ridges where a spectacular view of the fairy chimneys awaits you. The natural cone formations contain caves and labyrinths. As early as the third century, those chimneys became a hiding place for early Christians who fled persecution from the Romans, and then later from raiding Muslims. In modern tourism, many caves have been turned into cave houses for tourist stays and the lunar-like setting of Goreme Valley has become popular for hot-air ballooning.

Many say the extremely unique landscape of Cappadocia resembles some scene in a Star Wars movie and yet you may be surprised to discover that no major commercial movies have been filmed there. It would be a perfect setting for movies such as Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter series.

A gigantic rock cliff with some amazing hues. Colors that sparkle in the sun… red, green, yellow. Also the takeoff point of our balloon ride this morning

My wife and I left the kids in the hotel and caught a taxi to the top of the valley so that we could just walk down. A really great walk with amzing colours etc. A bit harder than we were told by the hotel and I would suggest older people might not be happy on some bits of it.

This tour is really astonishing! To imagine that so many people lived underground in these caves is mind boggling. But, this tour is not for those who fear small, cramped spaces or being underground.

My visit to Derinkuyu Underground City was something that I just could not have imagined. This is truly a city of tunnels and underground caverns that are mysterious as well as a remarkable engineering feat. The construction of this maze of tunnels has to be seen to be truly appreciated.

Derinkuyu is an amazing piece of history and a must see if you are in the Cappadocia region. The depth, size and history of this underground city is remarkable. Very glad we saw this underground city versus some of the others.

Since 1965 I have been visiting this area, it is a region of Nevsehir. When Mount Erciyes erupted 2000 years ago, lava and ash formed soft rocks in the Cappadocia Region. Houses, churches etc were carved in. And a a spectacular landscape was formed because of the rain and wind erosion and fairy chimneys were formed.

Nice experience, not to be missed. Very cool and comfortable on a hot summer day. Typically I never get a guide but a guide is a must here! You would miss sooo much without a guide.
A guided tour takes about 45-60 minutes. Somehow we lucked out and visited when there were no tour buses present. Our tour guide spoke…

With not a lot to do in Goreme, everyone goes to the open air museum, especially tourists. There were tons of tour groups there and it was hard taking turns going inside of the caverns. We did it without an audio guide and it was fine, but maybe would have been more interesting with them. After doing the open air…

don's buy plates in Avanos besides you could cut price excellence. Avanos is a beauty small town. peoples is not bad for help guest, but business man that sell plate is very sly, you must cut price 50% and then start to think about if you buy or not.

The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
