Uchisar is a small village of Cappadocia  that has some of the most luxurious hotels in the region. It is located close to Goreme Open Air Museum and can be explored within a day or will serve well as an ideal base to explore beautiful Cappadocia.

Uchisar is very hilly and those with walking difficulties will find problems on steep streets and hills. From the top of Uchisar is the castle and one of the most magnificent views of the landscape. Walking around Uchisar will bring a smile to your face as you come across the unique police station and quiet cafes that are located in caves.

From the heights of the Uçhisar citadel, you have a magnificent and unrivaled view of the whole region.

Uçhisar Castle / Landlord’s Castle, (The big rock on top of the hill in Uçhisar). The view from the top of this massive rock with a number of rooms carved into it is well worth the price of admission. The path to the top is strenuous but short, mostly stairs and relatively safe. 5 TL.  edit

There are also many similar hand carved rooms and tunnels you can explore in the nearby Pigeon valley. Less stairs, perhaps less safe.

Uchisar is situated at the highest point in Cappadocia, The top of the Uchisar Castle, provides a magnificent panorama.

The Uchisar Castle is something of a landmark in Cappadocia – it can be seen from afar, rising high above the fairy chimnies which form the beautiful Cappadocian landscape.
The fortress is entirely carved from stone, as with the other amazing structures in Cappadocia. It used to serve as a defence base for inhibitants, and enemies could be spotted from…

Worth a quick look great views but no need to spend a lot ot time there. Very close to our hotel and we could walk through the town to get to the castle.

It's worth climbing to the top if you are staying in Uchisar, but I would;t go out of my way to get here otherwise. The steps to the top are new and metal without handrails…not for the giant of heart. The 360 degree view from the summit is the best part.

Not your traditional Castle…. It’s a large carved rock chimney that rises above the village of Uchisar. We were taken here by our tour guide for 10 minutes to take pictures. There was a camel ride near by as well.

A little walk to the top of this "castle" and you have 360 degree views of the area. You don't go inside, just walk up the stairs around the peak and come back down. Worth the trip

Don't hesitate to visit this nature made fortress if you are anywhere near in Cappadocia… amazing scenery, true paradise for photographers… walk around the city and in fortress… explore – it is truly worth it… We took great hiking tour from Goreme trough Pigeon Valley to Uchisar and it was AMAZING… some 4-5km of walking but it was really great….

Though it's not easy to drive there and to find where to park, etc. Once you get there, this is really amazing. The small town below is also very quiet.

Great place to bring a bottle of wine and watch the sunset if it is not a cloudy evening, lots of stairs, highest point of the area; not much there but the view is worth the trip.

This site is more interesting because of the view. There are better cave dwellings to see in Cappadocia

The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
