Uchisar is a small village of Cappadocia  that has some of the most luxurious hotels in the region. It is located close to Goreme Open Air Museum and can be explored within a day or will serve well as an ideal base to explore beautiful Cappadocia.

Uchisar is very hilly and those with walking difficulties will find problems on steep streets and hills. From the top of Uchisar is the castle and one of the most magnificent views of the landscape. Walking around Uchisar will bring a smile to your face as you come across the unique police station and quiet cafes that are located in caves.

From the heights of the Uçhisar citadel, you have a magnificent and unrivaled view of the whole region.

Uçhisar Castle / Landlord’s Castle, (The big rock on top of the hill in Uçhisar). The view from the top of this massive rock with a number of rooms carved into it is well worth the price of admission. The path to the top is strenuous but short, mostly stairs and relatively safe. 5 TL.  edit

There are also many similar hand carved rooms and tunnels you can explore in the nearby Pigeon valley. Less stairs, perhaps less safe.

Uchisar is situated at the highest point in Cappadocia, The top of the Uchisar Castle, provides a magnificent panorama.

A steep climb with a rewarding view from the top. It was very windy the day we were there so we didn't stay long at the top. The caves were interesting as we walked in and out of them.

We were staying in Uchisar village so the castle was just a few minutes walk up the hill from our accommodation. The castle is hewn out of the rock and worth a look. It only cost TL 5.00 and could be completely explored in 40 minutes.
Right next to the castle there are some other rock dwellings that you can…

From many vantage points in Goreme you can spot the pyramid shape of Uchisar Castle jutting up from the western horizon. Its steep sides appear daunting from a distance, prematurely giving the weak-kneed an excuse to avoid its summit. However, these two late 50ish desk jockeys reached the summit of the castle with relative ease, so don’t be easily discouraged…

Cappadocia region is incredible overall with its unique nature. Uçhisar Castle is a great representative of what to expect from your trip in Cappadocia. It takes about 15 minutes to climb up the castle through the ancient stairs. The tiring climb will be worth your while once you get to the top of the castle and look around to see…

Indeed a place with nice view of region. The only bad thing is that in evening you can "meet" a million of flies.

Fantastic views from the Castle. Lots of steps to climb but well worth it when you get to the top and can see the whole of the surrounding areas.

The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
