Tours of Ephesus from Kusadasi port

The port of Kusadasi is a maritime port is located in a wonderful Gulf. Kusadasi in Turkey language, means the island of the birds. It is considered a very important scale in many of the boats. It is a place magnificent with great historic value.

Kusadasi which means “Bird island”, is located in a magnificent Bay and is known for its sparkling water, wide sandy beaches and its port with the capacity of 600 ships.

This island is so named because of the small island that is opposite it. When one thinks of Kusadasi, think of the sea. Kusadasi means in Turkish island of birds. The city is located at a walking distance from port. It has transformed over the years into a paradise of business with large purchases. Around the port of Kusadasi are numerous shops and retail shops of handicrafts, carpets, leather and footwear, textiles, and where tourists must make good purchase based on “race” in the price with sellers. From the flourishing city of Kusadasi, traveling along the coast and into the field to get to Ephesus, the ancient world famous for its temple of Diana, one of the seven wonders of antiquity, which was later home of San Juan. Arriving at Ephesus he enters through the door of Maganesia archaeological site, and you will discover countless monuments, such as the Forum, the Odeon, the library of Celsus, the Scholastica baths and the Grand Theatre, built in the Greek era and later rebuilt in the Roman period. At noon we returned to the boat, to continue our itinerary and relax a little and then have lunch on board, since in the afternoon we had planned another visit, in this case the Isle of Patmos.

As experienced travelers, we always opt for private tours wherever we visit. Again, this time we booked a private tour to Ephesus from Kusadasi. We were impressed more by the Library of Celcus and the Terrace Houses than by the Grand Theater because we have seen many similar ones in Greece. Our guide spoke fluent English with a slight accent of Turkish, which we actually liked.

We loved our well-organized Ephesus tour

To avoid the heat, our private Ephesus tour started in the very early morning from the hotel we stayed in Cesme. We were the first visitors entering Ephesus! With our knowledgeable guide, handsome Selcuk, showing us around in excellent English, we enjoyed our visits to Ephesus, the House of Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis and the Basilica of St. John.

We chose a lunch in kirazli village where we later visited an organic cherry farm and enjoyed a first-hand experience in picking cherries ourselves. One unscheduled program was a surprise. On our way to Kirazli Village, we saw many buildings saying ‘ leather outlet factory’. So before heading back to Cesme we asked if we could visit any of them and we did! This place we visited was called Kircilar which had great collection of leather jackets. We ended up buying many jackets and my husband was joking that we would need to take a second loan out of our house. Such a great tour!

The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
