Lunch was excellent. My only regret is that I did not use them in Istanbul. A memorable experience.

The best way to visit Ephesus by Ephesus Tours http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/the-best-way-to-visit-ephesus-by-ephesus-tours/ http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/the-best-way-to-visit-ephesus-by-ephesus-tours/#respond Thu, 21 Jul 2011 19:09:14 +0000 http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/?p=859 As an old-time backpacker, the idea of having a private never occurred to me in the past. Now that  having kids( age 5 and 3) plus my in-laws tagging along our trip to Turkey, I kind of gave it a thought . Honestly, it was the rightest decision we ever made about this tour.

Our guide Selcuk came with the chauffeur Hasan in a van to pick us up at the Kusadasi harbour.  On the way to Ephesus Selcuk gave us some basic info on the locals such as the climate, the average income, the current politic situation..etc. It was very insightful. We were  provided with different kinds of fruit drinks on the ride. They also had wheelchairs ready just in case my in-laws might need them.

Our tour started from the House of Virgin Mary where my  in-laws, who happens to be Catholic, prayed and our kids tagged their wishes on wish walls. Of course, we each had a sip from the 3 taps which represent wealth, health and fertility.

Coming down from the hill, we reached Ephesus and from the entrance near Magnesium Gate we entered  Ephesus. Travelling with kids and the elderly is always challenging. Thanks to this private tour customized to our needs, we had a great and peaceful tour where Selcuk thoroughly introduced the long history to us with some amazing anecdotes. Our kids found the Latrine so amusing that they could not stop laughing while imitating how kids 2000 years ago used the potties.

Compared to the tour offered by the cruise ship in terms of price and the itinerary, this well-organized and yet totally flexible private tour was the best choice ever.

Many thanks to Ephesus Tours, especially to our gudie Selcuk and the driver Hasan. Hope to see you next time.

A Perfect Private Tour of Ephesus http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/a-perfect-private-tour-of-ephesus/ http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/a-perfect-private-tour-of-ephesus/#respond Sat, 18 Jun 2011 11:12:03 +0000 http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/?p=814 I sent emails asking for prices and options to create a private tour for our shore excursion. I was able to take a standard tour and customize it and it was less than half the price of the group tour shore excursion offered by our cruise. We met our private guide and driver as soon as we got off the ship. We first started with a drive out to the Virgin Mary’s House. Along the drive, we learned some interesting facts about the region and Turkey in general.

Then, we reached Mary’s house and toured the site very interesting. Then it was off to Ephesus where we had a leisurely and informative tour through the amazing ruins. Make sure to get the added tour of the terrace houses. This is the most well preserved ancient ruins ever discovered.

Then it was off to St John’s Basilica and the Temple of Artimis to finish the tour. The tour was incredible and a highlight of our trip.

I would highly recommend this private tour the price was very reasonable.

Fantastic Ephesus Tour http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/fantastic-ephesus-tour/ http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/fantastic-ephesus-tour/#comments Sun, 12 Apr 2009 11:56:55 +0000 http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/?p=729 My parents and I recently spent a day in Turkey and wanted to be able to experience as much as we could with what limited time we had. We booked a tour through Ephesus Tours and it was exceptional, it truly turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. Our guide, Taylan, was very thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable.

Throughout the day, she shared many fascinating details about the historic sites that we visited as well as allowing us a glimpse into not only what daily life was like back in ancient Turkey but present day Turkey as well. Perhaps the best complement I can pay Taylan and Ephesus Tours, is that because of them, I will return to Turkey, as one day just isn’t enough in such a beautiful and captivating country.

Excellent Ephesus Tour http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/excellent-ephesus-tour/ http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/excellent-ephesus-tour/#respond Thu, 17 Apr 2008 18:15:09 +0000 http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/?p=786 On the whole Ephesus is a fantastic place to visit but my tour was disappointing due to a rushed timeline and missing attraction. Loved Ephesus itself, its well worth any visit! The terrace houses are interesting and so its good to confirm that portion of the tour is included.  Ephesus tour was less than the cruise tour. we had a fab..time. thx..

A fantastic private Ephesus tour http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/a-fantastic-private-ephesus-tour/ http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/a-fantastic-private-ephesus-tour/#respond Sat, 12 May 2007 21:20:07 +0000 http://www.ephesustoursguide.com/reviews/?p=863 I have been to some Greek ruins in Greece and I have to say that the size and grandeur of Ephesus is simply incredible. The whole site is spectacular. Being there, I was so impressed by the magnificent structure of the Great Theater, the rich collection of the Celcus library, the prosperity shown by the commerce on Curetes Street and the Terrace Houses, and according to our guide’s illustration, most importantly the democracy demonstrated in the council meetings held in Bouleterion(Odeon).

The only thing that kind of tired me out was the heat! My advice to anyone who plans to visit Ephesus in the summer is to make sure you wear hat or use an umbrella and have a big bottle of water with you.

What a great tour we enjoyed !
